Delicious Avocado & Tomato Salad With an Irresistible Twist
Easy to make avocado and tomato salad with crunchy pickles, topped with sesame seeds. Drizzle over lemon juice, sesame oil and soya sauce for a salad that does not disappoint. It’s a fun twist on the classic avocado and tomato salad with a slight Asian twist, that’s totally delicious! I recommend serving this with salted tortilla chips for scooping. YUM!

Avocados have always been one of my favorite fruits. I simply can’t get enough of them, be it on avocado and toast, in a salad or guacamole and crackers. Always delicious! The classic avocado and tomato salad has always been a staple around here. Last week I decided to add a few different ingredients to the classic recipe, and wow, it was a hit! My kids (who are, by the way, some of the pickiest eaters on the planet) devoured the entire salad in a few minutes, so I had to make more.
It bursting with flavor with a slight Asian twist to it. I skipped the classic red onion in the salad and instead replaced it with pickles. My kids find red onion too sharp, and who doesn’t love pickles? It gives the same crunchy texture with a sweet, tangy, and slightly salty taste, which adds so much flavor.

Easy and quick to make, all you need to do is toss a few ingredients together and drizzle over some dressing. Be picky with the avocados you use. If you live in a place with access to Hass avocados, use them. They have a delicious creamy texture that complements this salad perfectly. Just look at how green and creamy my avocados are! Yum!
If you don’t have Hass avocados where you live, just choose any ripe variety; hard ones will ruin the salad! It’s the creamy texture of the avocados with the crunchy texture of the pickles and tomatoes that makes this salad such a winner!
The dressing brings an incredible depth of flavor, combining bright citrusy lemon with the savory umami and saltiness of soy sauce, while the rich nuttiness of sesame oil ties everything together. The result? A perfectly balanced explosion of deliciousness in every bite!

These are the details
Ingredients
- Avocados
- Salad Tomatoes
- Pickles
- Sesame Seeds
Dressing Ingredients
- Soya Sauce
- Sesame Oil
- Lemon Juice
- Salt
Tools
Nothing special, just a cutting board, mixing bowl, and a salad bowl!

Steps
Step 1: Cut the vegetables
I like to dice the tomatoes and pickles not too small, but not too big. For the avocados, I slice them diagonally to get thin, long pieces. Food can often taste different when it’s in a different shape, and I’m a firm believer that avocados are far more delicious when cut thin than in thicker cubes! It could just be me, but give it a try and let me know!
Step 2: Drizzle the dressing
This recipe is so easy, you don’t need another bowl to make a dressing, you simply drizzle the dressing ingredients directly onto the salad. Once done, sprinkle sesame seeds over the salad.
This salad is best served fresh, if it’s left for too long, the pickles and tomatoes can become soggy. Luckily, it’s so easy and quick to put together- ready in just 10 minutes! That makes it the perfect last-minute salad for entertaining or a simple, delicious addition to dinner! Serve it at any event, be it a BBQ or a tea party, you won’t have any leftovers!
